This is the grave of cowboy Robert "Bob" Jackson. He was born November 1887 in Texas. Struck by lightening and killed on August 10, 1910 while riding a horse & leading another, he was buried where he fell. Of course the horses were both killed also. This photo was taken about 1928 when Martin Wood and his son Clifford , took Bob's mother "Cora Jackson" by horseback to the burial site. They carried the rocks, sand and water from a nearby canyon to build this monument. The grave is located in Section 23 of northeast Pinal County, just a short distance south of the San Carlos Reservation line and on a ridge not to far from Aravaipa Canyon.
